Shocks and Struts Video
Shock absorbers and struts influence the control and handling of your vehicle. They work in conjunction with the vehicle’s springs to dampen the bouncing motionti of the vehicle as you travel around the Portland area. The energy is absorbed as a piston inside the shock pushes against hydraulic fluid. This restricts the rebounding movement of the springs. Your shock absorbers or struts should be replaced in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, or immediately if a fluid leak is detected. Driving with old or faulty shocks will lead to premature and uneven wear on tires and increased wear to other suspension components. Bad shock absorbers also reduce the handling ability of the vehicle and can cause it to become unstable. Replacing shocks and struts on a regular basis or immediately upon indication of a leak will prevent premature wear of tires and reduce wear on other vehicle systems. If the handling of your car, truck, or SUV is worsening, or you are feeling bumps that you never felt before, call Konkin Service Center at 503-336-4488, or schedule an appointment online.
